Hairdressing
Age group of learners: 12–18 years old Number of learners: At least 8 learners Number of hours: 6–8 class hours per week Duration of training: Three years
Students will be taught about the basic structure, methods of use, and safety rules for hairdressing tools, as well as electrical and non-electrical equipment. They will also develop the ability to identify, use, and perform basic technical maintenance of such tools and equipment.
Students will learn hair care and styling techniques appropriate to different face types, head shapes, and structures. In practice, they will learn how to shape bangs and front hair sections, as well as model haircuts and hairstyles for women and men.
By acquiring basic knowledge of work procedures and hairdressing technologies, students will be able to assist clients in choosing interesting and original hairstyles. They will learn the correct sequence of operations for performing haircuts and hairstyles.
Students will also acquire knowledge about different types of hair coloring, methods of preparing various coloring products, and hair coloring technologies. They will develop the ability to select and apply coloring products and use them according to the relevant instructions.
FORMS OF TRAINING
The educational process is carried out through a combination of theoretical and practical classes.
Open-door days are organized, during which students demonstrate their knowledge and practical skills on models.
Visits to hairdressing salons are organized for master classes and exchange of professional experience.
At the end of the academic year, a final demonstration class is organized, during which students present the practical and theoretical work they have completed throughout the year.
PROGRAM OUTCOMES
Within the framework of the program, students should be able to:
- perform hair styling, hairstyles, and haircuts;
- understand the stages of the hairdressing process;
- select hairstyles and haircuts appropriate to the client’s face shape;
- comply with safety rules when using hairdressing tools and equipment;
- follow current fashion trends and make appropriate stylistic choices;
- correct imperfections in hairstyles or haircuts and perform finishing and styling procedures;
- carry out final hair fixation and finishing procedures.
