Open Lesson and Exhibition Entitled “Art Gives Birth to Craft”

On October 7, an open lesson and exhibition entitled “Art Gives Birth to Craft” was held at the “Yntaniq” Children and Youth Creative Center. The exhibition featured handicrafts created by students of the Center’s carpet weaving, rug making, felt making, beadwork, and pottery clubs.

The students presented the importance and distinctive significance of Armenian cultural values in traditional Armenian families and everyday life, introduced visitors to national and folk traditions, fostered interest in the aforementioned crafts, strengthened their professional skills, and developed their ability to create freely and independently.

During the open lesson and exhibition, students from the carpet weaving, rug making, felt making, pottery, and beadwork clubs presented ancient crafts that are considered endangered, yet continue to be preserved and passed on to new generations.

While presenting their works, each student also explained the significance and role these crafts have played—and continue to play—in Armenian culture and everyday life.

Through the open lesson, the students also shared details about how these crafts were practiced in the Caucasus, the stages of their development, and the distinctive characteristics of their ornamental patterns and designs.
