“Talking Books” Event at the “Yntaniq” Center Dedicated to International Mother Language Day
From February 22 to March 1, the “Yntaniq” Children and Youth Creative Center held an event entitled “Talking Books” dedicated to International Mother Language Day.
The aim of the event was to highlight the role and importance of the Armenian mother tongue in preserving Armenian identity, present lesser-read works by Armenian writers in audio format, contribute to the development of teenagers’ literary and musical taste and intellectual abilities, and foster a love of reading among the students.
The event was attended by students from the English Language and Computer Training Clubs of the “Yntaniq” Children and Youth Creative Center.
Members of the Writers’ Union of Shirak Province, regional library staff, lecturers, educators, parents, and students from various clubs of the Center were also present.
During the two-day listening sessions, the students listened to the “History of Armenia: Avarayr,” V. Ananyan’s “The Hunter’s Judgment,” Khachik Dashtents’ “Fayton Alek,” and Hrachya Kochar’s “The Teacher” in audio format. The listening sessions were followed by lively group discussions and analyses of the works.
On March 1, a final quiz entitled “The Armenian Language Is the Home of the Armenian…” was held. As a result, the winning teams were awarded certificates and prizes.
The event contributed to strengthening teenagers’ awareness of the importance and role of the mother tongue, developing their teamwork skills, and awakening their love and interest in reading.
The questionnaires completed by the participants after the event, along with numerous requests and suggestions, demonstrated that the event had achieved its intended purpose.
