“Golden Armenian” Competition

“Golden Armenian” Competition

“Armenian, as the language of Ararat, is called the ‘Language of Prayer’; it is a divine, rich, and incomparable language.”

Nikolai Marr

Armenian letters… the Armenian language… this is the treasure of the Armenian nation, the hope of our people, and the source of strength that has preserved our identity throughout the ages.

On June 30, an exhibition of the award-winning and best works submitted to the “Golden Armenian” competition opened at the “Yntaniq” Children and Youth Creative Center in Gyumri. The exhibition continued until July 3.

The competition had been announced in February 2015, and around 70 works representing various artistic styles were submitted. The authors were students from different groups of the “Yntaniq” Center, as well as students from the painting groups operating in the communities of Torosgyugh, Goghovit, and Tsoghamarg.

The purpose of the exhibition was to present the Armenian alphabet through creative works in various branches of applied arts, discover talented students, develop their creative thinking, and foster their aesthetic taste.

Artists, community leaders, school principals, teachers, parents, and students attended the opening of the exhibition. They viewed the creative works and expressed their admiration, as each piece testified to the identity and continuity of the Armenian people.

The students’ creative interpretations of the sacred letters of the Armenian alphabet seemed like a journey back through the crossroads of Armenian history and culture, expressing respect and reverence for the great figures of the Armenian people.

The event was solemnly concluded in the center’s hall, where Director Artur Minasyan presented certificates of merit to the authors of the works that won the first three places.

Four teenagers from Torosgyugh community and the “Yntaniq” Center were also awarded certificates of appreciation for their active participation in the exhibition-competition.

The three-day exhibition attracted numerous visitors and spectators. The works received high praise from the art-loving public.
