Brass Band

Age group of learners: 6 to 18 years old Number of learners: At least 7 Duration of classes: Each lesson is 45 minutes; 8 lessons per week Duration of the program: Four years

A brass band consists of brass and percussion instruments. During the learning process, students study the structure of various instruments, their history, and develop the ability to properly perceive and distinguish the sounds of different musical instruments.

Students learn to read musical notation and develop and strengthen their skills in pitch, rhythm, musical hearing, and ensemble performance. They study classical works by Armenian and international composers and acquire the skills necessary to perform these works while expressing their own individual musical interpretation. This process contributes to the development of an appropriate system of aesthetic and cultural values.

The program develops students’ fundamental musical competencies and strengthens their theoretical knowledge of music.

Music education provides children with artistic and aesthetic development, multidimensional thinking, refined taste, and meaningful engagement with cultural values of high artistic quality.

FORMS OF INSTRUCTION

The program combines theoretical and practical instruction.

Individual instruction is provided to each student, focusing on the development of proper technique and comprehensive mastery of the chosen instrument. Once students have acquired sufficient proficiency, instruction continues through group and ensemble practice.

The program also includes the organization of concerts and various educational and cultural events, providing students with opportunities for both individual and group performance.

PROGRAM OUTCOMES

Upon completion of the program, students should:

  • Master the techniques and specific skills associated with their instruments, as well as the fundamentals of performance;
  • Observe the proper rules for the use, maintenance, and care of musical instruments;
  • Be able to perform as members of a brass band and skillfully apply the techniques they have learned;
  • Consolidate their acquired musical knowledge and actively participate in competitions, festivals, concerts, and other musical and cultural events.
