Vardavar Festival in the "Entanik" Center
On July 24, the Armenian Apostolic Church celebrated Vardavar, the feast of the Transfiguration of Jesus Christ. Vardavar is one of the five feasts of the Armenian Apostolic Church. It is a movable feast celebrated 98 days after Easter.
On July 26, the students of the dance studio of the "Entanik" center organized an interesting artistic event on the spiritual mystery of the holiday and celebrations seasoned with folk traditions. During the event, the students presented the symbolism of the national and spiritual holiday, highlighted national customs, valued national culture and values, and strengthened the students' knowledge of the art of dance.
During the practical classes, the students of the dance studio had designed the Komitas hymns dedicated to the holiday, the spiritual works of the songwriters, which are engraved in gold letters on the pages of the history of music. The latter became applicable also in the field of dance. Before each dance performance, the students introduced the guests that Vardavar is a water festival and how on this day, apart from the feast, singing and dancing, everyone sprinkles each other. The church explains this by the fact that when Noah came down from Ararat to Nakhichevan, in order to keep the memory of the flood immortal among his descendants, he ordered that every year they should sprinkle each other on this day.
