November 26, 2013 — Seminar at St. Hakob of Nisibis Church in Gyumri

As part of the “Our Great Figures” program, M. Torosyan, Head of the Artistic Department of the “Yntaniq” Children and Youth Creative Center, organized a seminar dedicated to Gevorg V Chorekchyan, Catholicos of All Armenians. The seminar was held on November 26 at St. Hakob of Nisibis Church in Gyumri.

“Open unto us, O Lord, the door of mercy, that we may call upon Thee with tears.” These words reflected the spirit of the seminar participants—the students of the “Yntaniq” Center’s Creative Journalism, Carpet Weaving, and Ethnographic Dance Clubs.

The event was a unique initiative. The students themselves also took part in the seminar, deeply impressed by the extensive scholarly knowledge, vivid personality, subtle diplomacy, profound faith, and many other remarkable qualities of Gevorg V Chorekchyan, one of the great and wise figures in the modern history of the Armenian Church.

The aim of the seminar was to introduce Gevorg V Chorekchyan, who, for the glory of the Armenian Church, comforted, educated, and inspired generations with the ideals of the Armenian Church and the homeland, instilling in them love for both.

One of the seminar participants, Archbishop Narek, noted:

“Gevorg Chorekchyan is rightfully regarded as the most powerful shining star in the firmament of the Armenian Apostolic Holy Church of the twentieth century.”
