“Exhibition Entitled ‘The Color of Pain,’ Dedicated to the Centennial of the Armenian Genocide”
The series of events dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the Armenian Genocide continues at the Gyumri “Yntaniq” Children and Youth Creative Center under the Ministry of Education and Science of the Republic of Armenia.
From November 2 to 5, the Center hosted an exhibition of the best works submitted to the creative competition entitled “The Color of Pain.”
The exhibition featured more than 20 works representing various styles of decorative and applied arts, created by teenagers from the “Yntaniq” Center and other educational institutions. Teenagers from the Tsoghamarg, Mayisyan, and Arapi communities of Shirak Province also presented unique works.
The purpose of the competition was to pay tribute to the memory of the victims of the Armenian Genocide through creative works, encourage teenagers’ creative thinking, keep the national memory alive, develop their ability to collaborate, and discover talented young people.
Artists, educators, parents, and students attended the opening of the exhibition and highly appreciated the diverse works on display. The teenagers created their works around themes such as “Tragic Pages of the Past,” “Recognition of the Genocide,” “Just Struggle,” “My One Demand,” “We Will Continue Our Struggle,” “A Bright Future,” and “Rebirth.” Their works reflected painful and tragic episodes from the history of the Armenian people and the suffering endured by their ancestors, while expressing their own emotions, inner protest, the idea of demanding justice, and their determination to continue the struggle.
Arthur Minasyan, Director of the Center, awarded certificates and prizes to the authors of the works that took first, second, and third places in the 10–14 and 15–18 age categories. An additional prize was also awarded for the best creative idea.
The event once again demonstrated that, despite the pain of suffering and loss, Armenians will never cease to create and produce remarkable works of art.
