“The Homeland Is Strong Through Its Devoted Sons” Military-Patriotic Summer School for Teenagers

The guests of the summer school included Arkady Petrosyan, Head of the Military-Sports and Extracurricular Education Department of the Ministry of Education and Science, members of the Department, representatives of the Yerkrapah Volunteer Union, and participants in the April military operations.

Harutyun Kirakosyan, a Yerkrapah member and freedom fighter, recipient of the “For the Liberation of Shushi” and “Mkhitar Heratsi” medals, and a major in the medical service, told the teenagers about heroic episodes from the liberation of Shushi. He also spoke with admiration about the exploits of our contemporary heroes aged 18 to 20, expressing his conviction that thanks to devoted young people, the homeland is now in safe hands.

Edgar Mkrtchyan, a graduate of Gyumri State Vocational School No. 4 and a participant in the April war, who was awarded the “Vazgen Sargsyan” medal and held the rank of sergeant, modestly refrained from speaking about his own heroic deeds and instead shared his combat experience and military knowledge with the future soldiers.

The camp participants presented their guests with an artistic program entitled “The Homeland Is Strong Through Its Devoted Sons,” dedicated to the 25th anniversary of the Armenian Army and enriched with national songs and dances they had learned together over the course of several days.

At the end of the day, which was filled with patriotic spirit, Major Kirakosyan and Lieutenant Gevorgyan, recipient of the “Drastamat Kanayan” medal, emphasized that as long as such centers continue to operate and activities promoting the military-patriotic education of teenagers are carried out, the older generation can confidently entrust the defense of the country to the younger generation.
