“Masters of the Pen and Brush: Avetik Isahakyan 150 and Martiros Saryan 145”

Within the framework of the program dedicated to the 150th anniversary of Avetik Isahakyan and the 145th anniversary of Martiros Saryan, entitled “Masters of the Pen and Brush: Avetik Isahakyan 150 and Martiros Saryan 145,” a seminar entitled “The Colors of Armenia and the South and the Priceless Heritage of Our Ancestors,” dedicated to the 145th anniversary of the great painter Martiros Saryan, was held at the Gyumri Branch of the State Academy of Fine Arts of Armenia under the RA Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sports.

As part of the event, the students of the Decorative and Applied Arts group of the Endanik Children and Youth Creative Center first became acquainted with the academy’s educational environment and the creative works of its students. The seminar was then conducted by Sahkanush Stepanyan, an art historian at the university, who presented the distinctive features of Martiros Saryan’s art, as well as the reflection of Armenia’s rich color palette and Eastern cultural influences in his works.

The students listened to the art historian with great interest and, in sharing their impressions, particularly highlighted the magical power of Saryan’s colors and the unparalleled beauty of Armenian landscapes. The meeting not only deepened their knowledge of the great master’s art but also inspired them to use colors more boldly in their own works, experiment with new forms of artistic expression, and explore Armenian cultural heritage more profoundly.

The seminar became an important experience that strengthened the students’ connection between the traditions of national art and contemporary creative explorations.
