“Yntaniq” Center: Open Lesson Entitled “Welcome to London!”

On May 2, the students of the English language group at the “Yntaniq” Children and Youth Creative Center of the Ministry of Education and Science presented an open lesson entitled “Welcome to London!”

The lesson began with the national anthem of Great Britain, followed by a slideshow presenting the country’s main symbols.

The lesson was organized using a group-based method. Each group had previously chosen a name and topic and prepared a corresponding poster. The groups provided brief information about the founding of London, its systems of governance and education, cultural characteristics, landmarks, and English literature, accompanied by a slideshow.

The students presented a short dramatized dialogue about Londoners’ favorite activities and leisure time, using their language skills as well as commonly used British idioms and expressions.

The students of the English language group also referred to the works of famous English poets and read their own translations of selected works.

The open lesson concluded with an assessment of the students’ knowledge through a crossword and questions prepared in advance on the topic.

The lesson was purposeful and contributed to the development of the students’ spoken English and enrichment of their vocabulary, while also fostering in them a willingness to engage with the cultures of other nations.
