The literary evening entitled "Taste and Smell of Shirak" dedicated to the revival of the city of Gyumri was held in the reading room "Mesrop's Alphabet" of the children's creative center "Endanik".
The aim of the event was to evaluate the renowned Armenian poet Hovhannes Shiraz who was born in the Shirak region and to value his literary heritage, to introduce the students to the traditional song and dance of the Shirak region.
The evening is special in its format: gathered around a table the workers of the center ʺEndanikʺ, the pupils and students of the State Technical College N4 of Gyumri presented poems on the themes of love, mother and patriotism.
During the event the participants honored Shiraz as a singer of love and homeland. The mother is above all, she was a sacred spiritual force, a good angel of earthly life and those who recited tried to present the poems by the breath of the poet and evoked feelings of warmth and emotion in the spectators.
The participants also presented the different shades of love: enjoyment, selfishness and pain caused by infidelity, sadness, boredom ...
During the event the students of the duduk and dance workshops performed songs written on the poems of Shiraz.
The literary evening was concluded with the poem “Gyumri, you are the salt of Armenia” which became the national anthem of Gyumri.
Yes, Shiraz was generously rewarded by nature and gave the gift of its talent to the people by returning the inexhaustible treasures it had collected from its entrails, which had become the taste and smell of Shirak…
