“Yntaniq” Center: Seminars Entitled “The Victorious Pages of the Armenian People” and Screenings of the Film “Towards Independence”
As part of the events organized by the “Yntaniq” Center under the Ministry of Education and Science, dedicated to the 100th anniversary of the Republic of Armenia and the May Heroic Battles, seminars and film screenings were held in April and May in rural communities of Shirak Province and at the “Yntaniq” Center.
The program aimed to unite the younger generation around a common idea, raise awareness of the historical events of the May Heroic Battles, and highlight the Battle of Sardarapat as a remarkable chapter in the Armenian people’s struggle for liberation.
The seminars were conducted by researchers from the Gyumri Center for Armenian Studies, lecturers of the National Academy of Sciences, and historians.
During the seminars, the participants were introduced to the May Heroic Battles of 1918, the establishment of the First Republic of Armenia and its governing bodies, the Treaty of Batum, and other significant historical events.
In a lively and active atmosphere, the participants thoroughly discussed and analyzed the battles of Alexandropol and Shirak, General Andranik’s position, and the heroic deeds of the heroes of the May Battles.
Karine Aleksanyan and Armen Hayrapetyan, researchers at the Shirak Center for Armenian Studies of the National Academy of Sciences, presented to the teenagers archival interpretations they had studied, as well as previously unknown and historically significant events that proved both fascinating and valuable.
Drawing historical parallels between the May Heroic Battles and the Artsakh wars, the participants came to the conclusion that a united people can never be defeated, even by an enemy that is several times larger in number and has been treacherously prepared.
The principals of the community schools also shared their impressions, welcoming and emphasizing the importance of such programs organized by the “Yntaniq” Center, which further deepen and strengthen teenagers’ knowledge of historical events.
Guided by the words spoken during the May Heroic Battles, the seminar leaders urged the younger generation never to fear, never to rely on others, and to place their trust solely in their own strength.
