“Yntaniq Center”: Open Lesson Entitled “The Fables of Jean de La Fontaine”
On October 20, an open lesson entitled “The Fables of Jean de La Fontaine” was held at the “Mesropyan Alphabet” Reading Room of the “Yntaniq” Children and Youth Creative Center under the Ministry of Education and Science.
The lesson aimed to foster love and interest in French literature, highlight the educational and moral role of fables in the upbringing and education of teenagers, and demonstrate the students’ acquired knowledge of the French language.
The event was attended by lecturers from Shirak State University, representatives of the Swiss humanitarian foundation KASA, as well as educators, parents, and students.
The open lesson began with a brief introduction to Jean de La Fontaine, followed by presentations of five of his fables. An animated cartoon was also shown for each fable.
At the end of the lesson, the participating students distributed leaflets containing the moral teachings of the renowned French fabulist. Vahram Hambaryan, a student of the Painting Group, presented a caricature of Jean de La Fontaine that he had drawn during the lesson. The artwork was greatly admired and highly praised by those present. The reading room was filled with a distinctly La Fontaine-inspired atmosphere and a French spirit.
Gayane Galstyan, a lecturer at Shirak State University, shared her opinion and assessment of the organization of the open lesson and the students’ preparation: “I am impressed by the students’ profound knowledge of the French language. I must admit that very few university students know how to recite fables in French. The students deserve nothing but praise. I would once again like to thank the administration of the ‘Yntaniq’ Center for the invitation and for organizing such educational events.”
It should also be noted that the students of the French Language Group were invited to participate in an upcoming discussion on the topic “The Recipe for Happiness” at Shirak State University.
