“The Legend of Dance” — an event dedicated to International Dance Day

The artistic event entitled “The Legend of Dance: Following in the Footsteps of Aghasi Shaboyan,” dedicated to International Dance Day, solemnly commemorated the 105th anniversary of the birth of the renowned choreographer, turning into a beautiful celebration of national culture.

During the event, students of the dance group performed Armenian folk dances in Shaboyan’s distinctive style. The “Aratta” dance ensemble from Basen community also gave artistic performances.

Each performance stood out for its precision of movement, sense of rhythm, and profound expressiveness, offering a renewed interpretation of the national dance heritage. The dances were presented not merely as artistic numbers but were also interpreted, revealing their ideological foundations, content, and connection to Aghasi Shaboyan’s creative world.

An important component of the event was the exhibition entitled “Speaking Patterns,” featuring works by the carpet-making, felt-making, and beadwork groups. The exhibited works reflected the symbolism and historical memory embedded in traditional Armenian ornaments.

Through its artistic language, the exhibition complemented the dance performances, creating a unified cultural environment in which movement and color came together as one.

Thus, the event became not only a tribute commemorating the anniversary, but also a symbolic expression of national identity, the continuity of art, and the strengthening of cultural ties between generations.
