Art and Engineering: From Idea to Product
The students of the 3D Modeling and Silversmithing groups at the Endanik Center made an educational visit to the Gyumri Branch of the State Academy of Fine Arts of Armenia. The day was full of activities and focused on the combination of art and engineering thought.
During the visit, the students became acquainted with the activities of the FabLab Armenia–Gyumri International Digital Fabrication Laboratory at the Academy and explored the operation of modern 3D printing equipment, its capabilities, and areas of application.
Accompanied by a laboratory specialist, the students learned about the stages of modeling — from formulating an idea to digital processing and obtaining a finished product.
During the practical session, the students first sketched their ideas, then transformed them into three-dimensional models and used 3D printers to create tangible results. This stage was particularly inspiring, as each participant could see with their own eyes how a creative idea becomes a tangible product through technology.
At the end of the visit, Tatev Hartenyan, Head of the Department of Design and Decorative Applied Arts and Associate Professor, organized a tour of the educational institution for the students, presenting the available specialties, studios, and creative environment.
The students had the opportunity to learn about various educational fields, the learning process, and future professional opportunities, which is an important step toward choosing and orienting themselves toward a profession.
The visit became an inspiring experience that once again emphasized the importance of the harmonious combination of art and engineering on the journey from an idea to a finished product.
