CONTENTS
Chess is a board game for two players that is widely popular in the world. During the learning process, students learn the rules of the game of chess: attack, defense, notation of moves, basic checkmates with major pieces, combinations, traps, stalemate positions, etc. Chess forms and strengthens the abilities and skills to think, analyze, guess the opponent's moves during the game, and evaluate possibilities.
They learn to make correct decisions before making each move, find options to solve assigned studies and problems, learn strategic and tactical tricks, analyze the moves made after each game to avoid future mistakes, compare, classify, analyze, find patterns, and draw conclusions. They get acquainted with tactical tricks, which help develop logic. The learning process also contributes to the development of students' interests and the reinforcement of knowledge in the STEM (science, technology, engineering, and mathematics) direction. The game shapes and develops students' perseverance, goal-directedness, willpower, tenacity, and the will to win, helps get rid of shyness, and broadens their horizons.
Children interested in chess will later become competitive chess players.
FORMS OF INSTRUCTION
Instruction is carried out through a combination of current theoretical and practical classes.
During the learning process, an individual approach, stratified teaching, verbal methods, question-and-answer and dialogue methodological techniques, playing methods, and self-assessment by the student (both through a numerical scale and verbal formulation) are applied to each student.
There may be students admitted at different times in the club; therefore, a differentiated individual approach is provided to each student in accordance with their capabilities, interests, inclinations, abilities, health status, and attendance period. For new students, a corresponding thematic assignment is given, presenting the progress of the work and the execution technology, with corrections made along the way.
During each class, the educator reveals the student's practical abilities, grasps their creative mindset, and provides the student with the opportunity to utilize their existing knowledge. Educational work is also conducted with students during the course through conversations, discussions, preparation for events and various competitions, compliance with ethical norms, educational visits, meetings with famous chess players, viewing thematic videos, and participation in online games.
