"Endanik" center . Reading as a source of development

  
Reading is one of the sources of thinking and intelligence development.

"Endanik" Youth Creative Center of the Ministry of SE in June-September was held a festival entitled   "Reading as a source of development". The goal of the program was to develop a culture of reading among the pupils, to strengthen love for reading, to create a culture of going to libraries and reading halls in adolescents, to contribute to the creation and strengthening of the library - student relation, as well as replenish the library with new books. The program was launched in June announced with books collecting and with "The Book and I" creative competition, which was represented by a variety of decorative and applied art works. The results of the competition were summed up on September 20 by the professional assessment committee. From September 4 to 9 in the framework of the festival in Ashotsk, Goghovit, Yerazgavors, Torosgyugh, Tsoghamarg rural communities of Shirak region and in "Endanik" Youth Creative Center were held seminars on the theme of "Reading as a source of development". They also discussed "When and how was the book created" and "The role of the reading in life" topics. After interesting and stormy discussions, the pupils read Khachatur Abovyan's   short story "Egg robber" analyzed and interpreted the moral meaning and content of the parable. On September 19 within the framework of the program teenagers from  "Endanik" center and teenagers of Shirak region rural communities visited the Shirak regional and central library  after Mkrtich Armen. They were introduced a huge amount of books, library rules and they got interesting and instructive information about the collection of books. The students left the library with impressed, deep thought and with readiness to return.
On September 26, in the yard of Hakob Mtsbnetsi church of Ani district was held a massive open-air reading festival, which was attended by representatives of the Shirak regional branch of the Union of Writers, librarians, educators, residents of the district, parents, students, as well as passers-by. The attendees watched the exhibition of works presented to the creative competition and participated in outdoor reading with teenagers. Various pavilions were presented in English, French, Armenian, as well as children's and spiritual literature. The elderly and the younger generation were sitting side by side, reading aloud and interpret the same tale in its own way ,the child with his pure and sincere spirit and vivid imagination, and the old man with his life's experience and wisdom. The positive feedback and praise of the passers-by have encouraged readers. "It's a very commendable initiative; it's nice to see reading people of different ages. I went through and picked up the pavilions of the books. I have also found one of my favorite works,- one of the  passers -by Anna Ghazaryan shared with her impressions passers-by. Within the framework of the festival "Fast Reading" contest was also held where the participants were full of enthusiasm and were actively trying to read the fastest, readable and winning competition. Anahit Vardanyan, pupil of Gyumri’s primary school number 11, won the competition with an award. The participants who presented works at the creative competition were also been awarded. The festival ended with the artistic performances of Center’s students.
