"He didn’t like repetition, experiments. Everything came spontaneously, without deep thoughtful toil, from the heart. This is where he would scream, laugh, and cry... ‘There was–there wasn’t a Parajanov.’"
Garry Kuntsev
The 100th anniversaries of the birth of Sergey Parajanov and Charles Aznavour have been included in UNESCO’s calendar of Celebrated People and Important Events for 2024-2025.
At"Endanik" Center of the Ministry of Education, Science, Culture and Sports of the Republic of Armenia, an exhibition titled "Parajanov's Etudes" was opened to honor the great maestro’s centenary. Students from the painting, quilting, and batik clubs studied the creative world of the artist with its unique characteristics. The audience was presented with the film "Maestro Parajanov", which showcased the filmmaker's life and creative journey.
The students approached the master's applied art with interesting ideas and perspectives. Parajanov was called "Maestro" for his talent, his brilliant films, and the applied art pieces he created from used materials. It was in this manner that the students also created, presenting collages of his art, graphic drawings, as well as his famous puppets and hats that reflected global art perspectives and certain directions of his work.
Parajanov left a huge legacy in world cinema with films like "Shadows of Forgotten Ancestors," "The Color of Pomegranates," "Hakob Hovnatanyan," "Arabesques on the Pirosmani Theme," "The Legend of Surami Fortress," and "Ashugh Garib." In each of his films, the Armenian cultural notes, tones, colors, and characteristic samples were strongly expressed. Students from the dance club presented the artist's emotions and unique approaches to understanding his creative world through stage dance while preserving Parajanovian culture.
Artistic performances were presented by the center's duduk(apricot-made wind instrument) and dhol(drum) groups, paying another tribute to the great maestro’s creative life and legacy.յո
